Ever looked at a pattern and thought to yourself, :”I must have that.” I’m sure you all have. That’s me – for the Renaissance Tunic designed by Teva Durham. I started this project late sunday evening, and so far I have this. Hopefully by the time I’m through with it, it will look like this.I wavered between knitting the Renaissance Tunic and Demi from Vintage Style for a while, and in the end decided that it was time. See, I bought the yarn for this about 6 months ago and have always thought this project would be something that I would “aspire to do” when I’m good enough. Ah, fug it. Itchy fingers have a different plan.
This pattern is knit from the bottom up in the round, and the picture you see above is right where I should be dividing for the front and back now. I got the easy part out of the way, and should be heading towards short row shaping for the bust and god knows where else. Just don’t expect the usual crazy knitting speed from me on this one – I predict it’s gonna take a while…

I couldn’t decide which pictures I wanted to show, so you get them all.

Pattern: Lace Leaf Pullover , by Teva Durham
Materials: 5 balls of Rowan Plaid (Color 154, 42% Merino, 30% Acrylic, 28% Alpaca – 109 yds/100g), Sz 13 needles
My gauge: 10 sts = 9.75″ (as opposed to 10cm – which shrunk down the sweater to 36″)
Knitting Time: Oct 5- Oct 10 2005.
Notes: I didn’t bind off the top piece as stated in the pattern, but just left those sts live so I could kitchener stitch the top and bottom half. Made the sleeves about 1.5″ longer by accident. Otherwise, no other mods. I have 2 balls left-over, might make a matching hat to go with it, unless you gals suggest otherwise. This sweater is perfect for Fall/Winter, one of those sweaters that I can see myself wearing quite frequently given the warmth and the comfy factor. Oh, and I finished it Teva Style A.K.A No Blocking.

Aside…… Thank you for your encouragements about the long-distance deal. Whenever I’m in a crappy mood, which is pretty often these days, I just read the comments you’ve left me and feel better. Had no idea so many people are going through/went through long-distance relationships and worked. Thank you all.

Scarf-O-Mania

I’ve been slacking on Phildar Stripey….the endless stockinette is boring me to death..argh.. I am so not in the mood for big projects recently, so I’ve resorted to making scarves. Here is Leaf Cravat by Teva Durham, using sz 5 needles and a sport weight Baruffa Aerobic Yarn.
Let me tell ya, this sucker is LONG. I just kept knitting and knitting, and before you know it, it’s 10 ft long! Ha ha.. Good thing it’s uber-skinny, so I can just wrap and wrap and wrap. I’m also working on another scarf for my mom, but no pictures yet.
So remembered how I tried to steer my sister away from black, gray and white? She still wants gray. I’ve managed to talk her into adding another color, and guess what she wanted? Dark Olive Green. *shakes head* I give up. Here’s her cabled armwarmer, using sz 7 circs and Cascade 220 yarn.
Since I’m in the mood for scarves and little pick-me-ups lately, I’ve signed on to Stitch Ya Neck Out. Check it out, we’ve got some awesome knitters in the swap. I’ve never knit for another fellow knitter before, so I’m a little nervous about having my knitting scrutinized. What if my swap pal thinks I am a horrible knitter? What if she thinks her scarf looks like crap? yea, self-doubts can be nerve-wrecking. Hopefully it will work out. The kick-off is early August. Go sign up like I did (at 3am in the freakin’ morning when I was semi-delusional).
Supposed to be meeting Joy and Andrea in the afternoon. A little anxious, but a little excited nonetheless.
